  • Matin Mortaheb

Treasurer

Matin Mortaheb is a third year PhD student at the Electrical Engineering department at UMD. He is working on theory of machine learning and its application on wireless communication. He joined as a treasurer to IGSF since 2021.

  • Milad Habibi

Milad Habibi is a second year Ph.D. student in Reliability Engineering at the University of Maryland, College Park. His research is focused on scientific machine learning, optimization for engineering design, and uncertainty quantification. joined IGSF as a board member since 2021.

  • Iman Ahmadabadi

Iman Ahmadabadi is a graduate student at the Physics department at UMD. He is working on theoretical condensed matter and quantum information science. He joined IGSF as a board member since 2020.

  • Ghazal Arabi Darreh Dor

Former President

Ghazal Arabi Darreh Dor is a third year PhD student at the Mechanical Engineering department at UMD and a research assistant at the Laboratory for Control and Information Systems.
She started working with IGSF almost right away after she entered UMD in the Spring of 2017, and she feels lucky to be given the chance to collaborate with a board of volunteers so dedicated to make UMD a better place for their peers.

  • Aria Shahverdi

Former President

Aria has been with IGSF since 2015 and was selected as a president of IGSF in 2017 and served until 2018. He is a Ph.D. student at Electrical and Computer Engineering, and he is a member of the Maryland Cyber Security Center (MC2).

  • Ramin Moradi

Former President

Ramin is a 3rd year Reliability Engineering PhD student here at UMD. He has been an active member of IGSF since 2017 and was the president of IGSF in FY 2018-2019. After his presidency, he remained a board member and currently acts mainly as a consultant to the group. Also, he is a university’s senate and Graduate Students Government (GSG) representative.

  • MirSaleh Bahavarnia

MirSaleh joined UMD on July 2018. He is a Postdoctoral Associate at Institute for Systems Research (ISR) and ECE Department. He received his Ph.D. in ME (Control) from Lehigh University. He has been always interested in organizing cultural and art-oriented events focusing on music, poetry, and literature.

  • Amin Aria

Upon getting a BSc in Mechanical Engineering, Amin Aria joined UMD in Fall 2015 to get his PhD in Reliability Engineering. He started his volunteer IGSF activities as an article writer for IGSF newsletter in 2016. In the meanwhile, he joined IGSF board and got selected as Marketing and Ticketing vice president for years 2016-2018. Afterwards, he has been a board member, mostly active in the stage team of seasonal event.

  • Afrouz Rahmati

  • Farshid Shoushtarian

Farshid is a third-year PhD student studying Sustainable Water Resources Management and is an scholar in CONSERVE. He joined IGSF board on Fall 2017 and has been collaborating with other board members to hold IGSF-Talks, social events, and IGSF Film Club.

  • Sara Zahedian

Sara is aPh.D. Candidate in Transportation engineering. She has joined UMD in fall 2017 and is working on transportation data analysis in the Center for Advanced Transportation Technology (CATT) as a GRA. Sara has joined IGSF on Fall 2018 and is helping with cultural events and charity activities.

  • Mehdy Sedaghat Payam

I am a Ph.D. student in Comparative Literature. I arrived here in 2019, and I am excited to be part of the vibrant and lively Iranian community here.

  • Sahar Khosravi

Sahar is a first year Ph.D. student at department of Electrical and Computer Engineering. She joined IGSF just about her arrival at UMD in summer 2019.

  • Sarah Honarvar

Sara Honarvar is a first year PhD student in mechanical engineering. She joined UMD in Spring 2017 as a master student in kinesiology and since then she’s been a board member of IGSF. This year, she is also serving as a GSG representative.

  • Behrad Soleymani

Behrad Soleimani received the B.Sc. and M.Sc. degrees in Electrical
and Computer Engineering from the University of Tehran, Tehran, Iran, in 2016 and 2018, respectively. He is currently working toward the Ph.D. degree in Electrical Engineering at University of Maryland, College Park, MD, USA.
He is a board member of IGSF since Fall 2018.
